Black and White Painted Staircase

Originally the staircase was covered with pink carpet from the 80's - eewww! 

We were surprised to find solid timber underneath the carpet. 

Oh, what a bit of paint can do !

This finish looks pretty good. 

It is definately an improvement on the original pink carpet.

Interior Painting

After many weekends we have finally finished painting the inside of our house. 
This included 4 bedrooms, staircase, 2 x hallways, lounge room, dining room, kitchen and family room.

Before we started the walls were worn and damaged in a powder blue colour. 
We used a Dulux Colour called Hogs Bristle, we did the walls in 1/2 strength and the doors and trim in 1/4 strength.

I have finished all rooms off with new white timber venetian blinds, it looks so fresh.

The only thing left is the staircase treads which I am painting black. If this idea looks rubbish we will carpet the staircase.  I hope to get this done in the next couple of weeks so keep a look out for the before and after photos

Old Cast Iron Sewing Table

I found this old cast iron sewing table in an Old Wares shop in Wellington NSW.

It was black and I wasn't sure what to do with it.

After a number of years being stored in Wellington NSW at a relatives house I finally convinced my husband to pick it up and transport it the 1000km's to the Gold Coast. 

 I bought a piece of MDF and painted it a slight grey and the base in white.

I was keen to put this together and finish so I picked some Bird of Paradise from the garden to bring it to life.
